AFGHAN STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
U.S. Scholarship for 好色tv (AUCA)
好色tv is accepting applications for the Afghan Students Scholarship Program, funded by US Embassy in Kabul, and administered by American Councils for International Education. The program will cover tuition, housing and stipend of students during all four years of undergraduate study in AUCA, and 1 year preparatory program if needed.

Dormitories: Are there certain floors specifically for women? How is security for women? (#1 Question from parents) Students stay at the AUCA Dormitory, where we have a full-time security guard. The scholarship recipients will be all on one floor together, and will be in the same building as the Afghan scholarship recipients from last year, so there will be a large Afghan community to help with the adjustment to Bishkek. In general, security for women in Kyrgyzstan is not an issue, but is advised to walk in groups, and not to go out after 10:00pm on weeknights.
Stipend: How much? Do girls eat in cafeterias or are they on their own? Stipends are $182 per month, and the women are responsible for buying their own food, which they can do at AUCA for all 3 meals. Residents can also use the cooking area at the dormitory to prepare their own meals, and there is a refrigerator on each floor in which they can keep their food. Residents may also opt to buy the AUCA meal plan, which covers all meals, which costs $165, leaving them only with use of their own funds for activities other than eating.
Exam: What does it cover? How long does it take? The paper based exam consists of multiple choice section which takes 45 minutes. Semi-finalists will go through a 10 to 20-minute individualized interview session which will be conducted by American Councils’ staff.

AUCA examinations:
Candidates are applying for a 5-year scholarship with 1 year preparatory program if needed. Applicants will submit the aforementioned application along with the essays to American Councils for International Education (ACIE). American Councils, in close coordination with the AUCA, will do the initial screening of applications to identify 100-150 qualified applicants. Candidates who make it through the evaluation process will be contacted by phone and/or email and will be given specific information about the date, time and location of the initial test and preliminary interview. The list of top 50 male and female candidates and their applications along with the scores of the initial test and interview papers will be delivered to AUCA in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan for further procedures. Those candidates will go through a final interview process which will be administered by AUCA/U.S. Embassy in Kabul.
It’s important to mention that this year there are slots for both women (around 22) and men (around 7). Candidates who pass the interview will be admitted to the 1-year preparatory program. Then, in the spring of 2015, candidates who have successfully completed the preparatory year will take the AUCA entrance exam. Only after they pass the AUCA entrance exam will they be granted admittance to the 4-year AUCA undergraduate program.

Note: Upon admission to the New Generations Academy (NGA) of AUCA, which administers Preparatory Program, the original copy of graduation certificate or diploma with appendix must be submitted to the Office of Admissions.
Note: Upon admission to AUCA NGA, applicants who have graduated from educational institutions outside of Kyrgyz Republic must present a document confirming they have obtained the equivalent of the Kyrgyz Republic’s state diploma of secondary education, equivalent to 11 years of school (for bachelor’s degree program applicants) and of higher education (for graduate program applicants). Upon arrival to the university, the document issued by the foreign academic institution and its notarized Russian translation (including transcripts / mark-sheets) must be submitted to the Afghan students Coordinator of AUCA in order to confirm the level and content of study completed. Afghan students’ Coordinator will facilitate issuing a certificate recognizing the applicant’s education from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Education, which should be submitted to the Office of Admissions to be kept on file.

SPECIAL NOTES
Admission to the NGA Program is not a guarantee of future admission to 好色tv’s undergraduate degree programs. To be admitted to AUCA undergraduate degree programs, students must successfully pass AUCA Entrance Exams which are conducted in February, April and July of each year.
Applicants to AUCA’s undergraduate graduate programs who are not admitted due to low admission scores may also be considered for admission to the NGA Program. Such students must request the Office of Admissions to reconsider their application for admission to the NGA Program.
