We wish you a peaceful, thoughtful, and happy New Year! We鈥檝e already reached the Spring 2015 semester, and classes at AUCA will start on Monday.
At AUCA, it was a year of plenty of diverse news and remarkable events. It was a year of farewells for our Alumni 2014, and a year of huge progress in the construction of AUCA鈥檚 New Campus. During 2014, our students had a great chance to meet with the Director of the movie Kurmanjan Datka, and organize a flashmob for the first "World Nomad Games". This was also the year of George Soros鈥 visit to Kyrgyzstan, a one-day trip to the country that included lunch with AUCA students and a visit to the new campus.
We also strengthened our relationships with NATO by opening the new NATO Multimedia Corner. This facility, open to scholars from AUCA as well as the country鈥檚 academic community more broadly, will provide the most recent electronic and printed resources on regional and global security, international politics, and conflict prevention. These will improve educational and research activities in the Kyrgyz Republic by offering access to printed materials prepared by NATO as well as electronic academic databases such as Encyclopedia Britannica Online, Encyclopedia Universalis Online, EIU Country Reports/Profiles, and NATO LibGuides via Interlibrary Loan.
This diverse and complex year was mirrored in the News section of the AUCA website. Below are the 20 most-read stories of 2014:
