The Research Office of the 好色tv is pleased to invite everyone to the open lecture芦THE RISE OF ELECTRONIC DEMOCRACY, A CORE ISSUE OF OUR CENTURY禄? 产测听Marcel Moritz,听a senior public law lecturer at Lille 好色tv, Head of the Master degree program in digital law (master 1 and master 2)听and Vice Dean for international relations. He has been teaching IT law since 2004, including personal data law, and also practices these subjects being a lawyer at the Lille Bar (partner at Capitani & Moritz). He takes part in national and international conferences on a regular basis and has written more than 30 articles published in legal studies journals (Lamy droit de l鈥檌mmat茅riel, Legipresse, Actualit茅 Juridique Droit Administratif, La semaine juridique) and academic books. He speaks fluently French, German (native language) and English.听

About seminar:
There is a growing gap between, on one hand, the speed at which information (including fake news) is spreading and the ability of all citizens to express themselves (e.g. through听online petitions) and, on the other hand, the mechanisms of our 芦听traditional 禄 democracies. The deployment of civic techs aims at filling that gap and gives birth to a - maybe dangerous - idea of direct democracy made possible by digital technologies. Smart cities today, smart states tomorrow, the question is who will rule the society in a decade or two? Will people still elect some representatives every 4, 5 or 6 years? Will Google - or another company - provide enhanced e-democracy, maybe backed by artificial intelligence? One thing is sure, modern technologies are challenging our democracies and will lead to significant changes in the coming years.
