On July 26, 2023, the Institute of Education held a guest lecture on intellectual labor and hosted an honored teacher of the Kyrgyz Republic, winner of the Manas-Washington Award of the US Embassy, the prototype of the film ‘Agay’ Gapyr Madaminov. Where he covered topics on creating a culture of learning, working with teachers, parents and students.

Gapyr Madaminov, a distinguished educator renowned for his visionary methods and principles, has become gave his recent lecture, which touched upon culture learning, engaging with teachers, parents, and students, as well as topics like speed reading and innovative learning methods, has sparked considerable interest and a wave of positive reactions from the educational community in Kyrgyzstan.

Madaminov is a strong proponent of fostering an interactive triangular relationship between teachers, parents, and students. Of course, he mentioned the importance of proper education of children and students. The question is, why do children nowadays not want to learn and everyone does not want it? According to the author, this is influenced by many factors, such as family problems, money, the environment of children, etc. The fault is in the method of teaching children, the method of work that needs to be improved. He argued that effective learning is a collaborative effort and requires seamless communication and cooperation among all parties involved. He spoke about the need for teachers to facilitate an open, respectful dialogue with parents, helping them understand their child's learning journey, needs, and potential. Similarly, he highlighted the importance of making students active participants in their education, encouraging their inputs, and validating their experiences.

Another fascinating topic that Madaminov explored was speed reading, an often overlooked but powerful tool for enhancing learning outcomes. He argued that teaching students, as well as teachers, this skill not only allows them to absorb information quickly but also promotes better comprehension, concentration, and retention. In his lecture, Madaminov showcased a range of techniques and exercises to improve speed reading skills, from chunking and minimizing subvocalization to using pointer techniques. He emphasized the need for regular practice to develop this skill, citing that it’s just as much about forming new reading habits as it is about strategy.

Madaminov is known for his innovative approach to learning and his lecture didn't disappoint in this regard. He offered a fresh perspective on traditional learning methods, particularly the way we approach essay writing. Instead of viewing essays as mere academic obligations, Madaminov sees them as a vital tool for students to develop critical thinking, research, and communication skills. He encouraged teachers to give students more freedom in choosing their essay topics, ensuring they are engaged and invested in their work. He also proposed innovative evaluation methods, focusing more on the learning process rather than the end product.

Madaminov's lecture was a testament to his innovative spirit and his deep understanding of the changing dynamics of education. His ideas about culture learning, collaboration between teachers, parents, and students, speed reading, and creative learning methods have sparked a new dialogue in the educational world.

These concepts proposed by Gapyr Madaminov highlight the need to evolve our educational systems and methods in tandem with a rapidly changing world. By incorporating his ideas into everyday teaching practices, educators around Kyrgyzstan can better prepare their students for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
